APSPOS AWARDS PROGRAM

The APSPOS Awards are conferred on outstanding paediatric ophthalmologists for their contributions to the development of children’s eye care and services in the Asia-Pacific region. The Awards will be presented at the discretion of the APSPOS Awards Committee at the APSPOS Congress.

APSPOS ASIA-PACIFIC AWARD

This prestigious APSPOS Award recognises distinguished paediatric ophthalmologists from the Asia-Pacific region who have made significant lifetime contributions to the development of children’s eye care and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Nominees must be practicing or retired ophthalmologists with recognised expertise and contributions in the paediatric ophthalmology subspecialty;
  2. Nominees’ main affiliated institution must be based in the Asia-Pacific region (as defined by membership of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology).

APSPOS INTERNATIONAL AWARD

This prestigious APSPOS Award recognises distinguished paediatric ophthalmologists from outside the Asia-Pacific region who have made significant lifetime contributions to the development of children’s eye care and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Nominees must be practicing or retired ophthalmologists with recognised expertise and contributions in the paediatric ophthalmology subspecialty;
  2. Nominees’ main affiliated institution must be based outside the Asia-Pacific region (as defined by membership of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology).

APSPOS YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

This APSPOS Award recognises young clinician scientists from the Asia-Pacific region who have made distinguished contributions to children’s eye care and research.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Nominees must be practicing ophthalmologists with recognised expertise and contributions in the pediatric ophthalmology subspecialty;
  2. Nominees’ main affiliated institution must be based in the Asia-Pacific region (as defined by membership of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology);
  3. Nominees must be under the age of 40.

SELECTION PROCEDURES

SCREENING

The APSPOS Central Secretariat will screen all nominations to ensure that nominees meet that eligibility requirements.

VOTING

Awards Committee members will complete the selection process and inform the Central Secretariat of the results.

NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS

Selected Awardees will be notified of the results at least four months before the upcoming APSPOS Congress.

AWARD PRESENTATION

The Awards will be announced and presented at the Award Ceremony during the APSPOS Congress. Each Awardee will receive a plaque on stage.

AWARD RECOGNITION

The list of APSPOS Awardees will be uploaded to the APSPOS website after the Congress.
