Dr Surendran T S is the Chairman of Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai, India, where he has been a consultant since 1978. His was trained at RIO Chennai, RP Centre AIIMS, under Dr Marshall Parks, Dr Jampolsky. He is a board member for Sankara Nethralaya and Sankaradeva Nethralaya in Guwahati. He has held various leadership positions, including President of the SPOSI and the SN Alumni Association, as well as in charge of Botox, CL and Low vision Clinic at Sankara Nethralaya.  

He has been recognized with numerous awards, including Lt. Col. Rangachari Award for the paper on Paediatric portable keratometer, the Honor Award from Rotary (2007), the Dr. Joseph Gnanadikam Award from TNOA (2007), and Lifetime Achievement Awards from SPOSI (2014) and the Lions Club. He was also honoured with the Best Doctor Award from MGR University in 2011.

Dr. Surendran has spoken at 56 international and national conferences and delivered 68 lectures in various instructional courses. Over his career, he has treated approximately 300,000 outpatients and performed up to 35,000 squint surgeries.
