Dr. Miho Sato


Dr. Miho Sato is a professor of the Department of Ophthalmology, Hamamatsu university school of medicine. She is well trained in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She has completed postdoctoral course of ophthalmology with Professor Shinobu Awaya (1988-1992), and international fellowship program in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Indiana University with Dr. Eugene M Helveston (1993-1995).

Dr. Sato actively contributes to children’s eye care in Japan and internationally. She was a council member of International Strabismus Association. Currently, she serves as a vice president of the Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology Society (APSPOS); a president of the Japanese Association for Strabismus and amblyopia; a council member of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus council; a council member of the Japanese Pediatric Ophthalmology Society; and a council member of Japanese Society of Ophthalmology. She hosted the XIIth International Strabismus Society meeting in Kyoto in 2014.

She has authored more than 40 publications and 4 book chapters and co-authored 1 book. She is the principal investigator in research grants of more than 6 million Yen. She has delivered more than 100 presentations and gave invited lectures at international conferences. She also serves as an editor for Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology and served as an editor of Journal of AAPOS and is a reviewer of 10 international journals. She received awarded lectures, the Knapp lecture (AAPOS 2019) and Japanese Society of Ophthalmology Special Lecture (2024).
