Dr Sonal Farzavandi (Gandhi) is a Senior Consultant at
the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Department.
She attained her MBBS degree from King Edward Memorial
Hospital in Mumbai, India as a gold medalist with
numerous gold medals and scholarships to her credit.
She acquired the Fellowship of the Royal College of
Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1992.
Dr.
Sonal is the President of the International Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC), Council
member of the International Strabismological Association
and
Council member of the Asia Pacific Society of Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus (APSPOS).
In addition, Dr Sonal is a member of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association for
Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, European
Strabismological Association and International Thyroid
Eye Disease Society.
Her clinic and research interests include pediatric
strabismus and adult strabismus secondary to thyroid eye
disease, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, trauma and vascular
diseases. She has been invited to speak and conduct
instruction courses on strabismus surgery both
regionally and internationally.
Her surgery is demonstrated in a surgical DVD included
with the Color Atlas of Strabismus Surgery Strategies
and Techniques by Dr, Kenneth Wright. In terms of
surgical prowess she has performed live surgery in
Singapore and presented at the American Academy of
Ophthalmology – Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
Sub-Specialty day.
